Last month, I got to meet Ian from Muscle Science and have been lucky enough to become part of the team. I collected my first lot of supplements and was truly blown away by the content of the box I was given.
Being away from home and on the road, the two boxes of protein bars came in handy and not only do they fill the gap on a hungry, busy tummy, they also taste amazing!! I keep them in my car at all times for those emergency cases and it sure saves me from stopping at a shop and ending up with junk.
I also love the pre-workout that I combine with BCAA’s before training, I can definitely feel the difference and the pump is amazing!! The Ampin Apple flavour is fantastic; I can’t wait to try all the other flavours!
L-glutamine has always been on my list of supplement use, but I have to say Muscle science takes it to the next level. I have been experiencing great recovery during the last two weeks with the intensity of my new training programme; I can safely say that if it wasn’t for the right use of supplementation, I would have been stiff, sore and losing motivation.
The new Lean Body is def worth all the hype! Most of the time, meal replacement shakes taste so awful, that you don’t want to use them. I have the cafe latte flavour that I blend with ice for a nice iced protein coffee and if you like your coffee a bit stronger, just add a table spoon of instant coffee - delicious. Unfortunately with my new diet and training programme, I won’t be able to use this product for a while, but I’m definitely looking forward to being able to re-add it to the list. It mixes so well with water which makes it perfect for “on the run” use.
The supplements are not the only exciting part of becoming part of the team. I got to meet Marius Dohne at his game promo, thanks to a heads up from Ian. I got to chat with him and share my dream of competing next year, going pro and finally making it as far as Olympia. Not only could he give me great advice, but he has done a new diet and training programme for me and he is going to help me get ready to compete next year. He is amazing at what he does and I have a lot of respect for him as a person. We’ve become good friends and I look forward to this journey with him and Muscle Science.
I’ve also added the rest of the sponsored athletes to my facebook and have been keeping in touch with a few of them. It’s great fun to track each other’s progress. I use to do Mixed Martial Arts at Fight Fit Militia in Sunninghill, Johannesburg and since Martin van Staden has moved there, we had a lot to chat about. He is in Canada with the Fight Fit Militia Boys training with GSP for their next fights and they are doing so well and it sounds like they are having the time of their life. After the amazing fight he had at efc11, I’m most def looking forward to the next one. Also good to hear that he is still using all his supplements while he is that side.
It’s been less than a month and I have only good things to say about Muscle Science both as a supplement brand and as a team of professional athletes and it’s a great honour to be part of the team. I look forward to competing next year with Muscle Science on my side and as I start my diploma in fitness with eta next year, I look forward to getting more involved with professional athletes and taking the Muscle Science brand to the next level!!
2012 is going to be a year to speak about!! I’m already turning everyone I know into Muscle Science lovers and have had some friends change their supplement brand over to ours. I’m also excited to be managing and training Lorenzo Stevens – watch this name!! He is a 21 year old mma fighter; I have changed his diet and training and given him a list of Muscle Science products to buy. We start on Monday. He is one of the most talented fighters I have ever seen and I think he is going to take efc to the next level and I get to start my dream of conditioning athletes to exceed in their sport with the right nutrition, supplementation and training combo!!
I’ve also got a 28 year old lady, wife and mother of two in Johannesburg who has 20kg to drop. I have a huge passion for house wives and their struggle against their family’s junk food eating. I’ve never met anyone more dedicated. I’ve changed her diet and finally got her into a gym and gave her a list of Muscle Science products to get. She is 4kg down in 2 weeks and doing very well. I’m excited to track her result and showing the world what the brand can do when combined with diet, training and a great attitude.
I am really enjoying this journey, not only do I get to prepare to make it to the top as an athlete and reach all my own personal goals. I also get to follow my dream to help others. Thank you Muscle Science!! Let’s go into 2012 with a BANG!!

Win no. 21 for Team TasolGT. Confidence building ahead of 94.7
Written by Muscle ScienceNolan Hoffman claimed top honors as he out sprinted a group of 20 riders to win the 2 provinces cycle challenge. The Mining town of Orkney played host to the 2 provinces cycle challenge.
Racing got off to a fast start with the gutter winds causing havoc early in the race. Attack after attack came from all teams present on the day and at 25km into the race a decisive group finally got clear.
The break had representation of 3 Tasol-GT riders Nolan Hoffman, James Perry and Jean Spies. Bonitas also had three riders in the move Hanko Kachelhoffer, Tyler Day and Jason Bakke. MTN had Aaron Brown and Dylan Girdlestone while Matlosana was represented by Dusty Day and the UCI African team was represented by Tsfai
All the riders in the break rode well together with each rider doing his share of the work on the front. At the turn around point the gap was at 2min30sec.
At 15km to go James Perry took control of the race keeping the pace as high as possible to eliminate the chance of riders trying to attack. He was helped by Kachelloffer of Bonitas...

A large number of players from the Sharks Rugby Academy will be in action tomorrow in the season finals of:
ABSA Currie Cup U21 - Sharks vs. Bulls
Absa Currie Cup Premier – Sharks vs. Lions
A number of top performing players from the academy have recently gone on to play for the Sharks senior team. Players including, Pat Lambie, Lwazi Mvovo, Marcel Coetzee, JP Pietersen, Keegan Daniel and then a large portion of the Sharks U21 team.
To have two teams participating in the grand final day is fantastic for Sharks rugby and in particular for The Sharks Academy.
Muscle Science is the proud nutrition partner of The Sharks Academy and would like to congratulate Hans Scriba (CEO) and Andre Volsteedt (Head Trainer) on a successful year and wish them and all their young prodigies all the best in tomorrow’s finals!
Flux Fluid Motion will be holding a Level 1 and Level 2 Kettlebell Certification course at the Flux Motion HQ in Umhlanga (Gateway) on 28-30 October 2011!
KSI-1
- 08h00-16h00 on Friday
- 08h00-12h00 on Saturday
KSI-2
- 13h00-17h00 on Saturday
- 08h00-16h00 on Sunday
To complete the level 1 course you need to pass 2 tests. One is a physical test, and the other a teaching test. The physical test is a snatch test where you need to attain a Rank III (on the snatch component only) for your bodyweight.
(On the linked table, the snatches is the number on each hand that you need to do. eg 75kg/165lb 58/55+55 means .. if you weigh 70.1-75kg, you must do 55 snatches on each hand using a 16kg kettlebell)
The level 2 test is the Jerk component (described above) of the Rank III
Unlike the international courses, where you only have the 2 or 3 days that you're on course to pass...since we are all in close proximity, you can come and take the test anytime - it's free, and there is no limit as to how many times you try (all this will be explained in detail on the course).
Certification Costs: R1650 each
